Conditions: It was a very windy day – but other than that it was a great day for a run, not too hot and not too cold.
Remarks: Sinead ran the Mini Marathon at 1pm today and I was between times to get my run in, So I decided to do it after Sinead got home.
The run was good, My Sinus wasn’t too bad (Went through 4 tissues) for the run and I’m thinking I could be back on track.
I went out a bit fast for the run, the plan (idea) was to do about 9 min/mile pace, but as soon as I was on the road I ended up doing 8:30 min/mile pace, I’m guessing I just needed a run with the mess my schedule has been for the last 2 weeks.
At mile 11 my hamstring let me know it was there and remained with me for the rest of the run, and at mile 12 my gluts left me know as well and also stayed with me, so that by the last mile I was in a bit of pain – having said that, my PB for a 1/2 marathon is 1 hour 45 min, and today I did a 1/2 in 1 hour 48 min – so in training maybe I was a bit fast.
Recovery: As soon as I got in the door I took my protein drink, while doing a lot a stretching – the stretching meant I needed to take my time with the drink. after stretching I had my dinner. after getting the kids to bed, I had a hot bath with Epson salts followed by more stretching.
Energy Levels during the day: actually not too bad, after getting back from Stockholm I slept most of Friday and a good bit of Saturday, with Sineads Mothers birthday on Saturday night I avoided the drink, and stayed on the water, I did however get a big plate of curry and I had a few slices of cake and apple tart.
